What happened
Amanda is from Canada, and it looks like she's hosted retreats before. However, I didn't hear about how horrible those retreats went until after paying her. So I attended, arrived at the AirBnB, and we were told that there weren't enough beds for us. So me and another girl shared the couch. Thankfully, it was a big couch. While everyone else had to share a bed. Amanda had models that weren't even experienced. They were real couples, but had no prior modeling experience and just wanted photos in wedding attire. All attendees were great at directing, but it doesn't help when the "models" are stiff and don't want to be there for long or want to help. The wedding dresses she had for the "brides" didn't even fit them. She also had a couple drop out at the last minute, so that tells me that none of these models were paid or contracted to be there. It left me wondering, where was the money actually going?? We were promised education, and got none of that as well. Another attendee didn't stay at the AirBnB, but was charged the full amount when she was promised a refund for the AirBnB portion. That attendee had to fight really hard to get their money back. On the last day, Amanda didn't even stay to host the last couple. She went in the car to sleep. Overall, Amanda was inexperience, unorganized, and while hosting a retreat is stressful, she let that show and didn't provide a welcoming environment.
Advice for the host
I'd tell ehr to stop doing retreats, but it looks like she already has. Thankfully.
