Love Loud

If you ever have an opportunity to go to a Love Loud retreat and you’re on the fence PLEASE DO IT. I’ve attended many content days and retreats and this was by far the best use of my money on one.

What happened

It’s taken me a while to get this post up because I don’t even know where to start. How do you properly thank and praise someone for giving you not only a safe space to create and connect, but a new community of genuine life-long friendship. Love Loud was nothing short of extraordinary. From the perfectly executed concepts, to the incredible group of attendees, the brave and vulnerable educators, and all the amazing talented vendors who collabed. Absolutely every aspect of this retreat exceeded my expectations. This was more than just another photography retreat or content day, we all really connected, trauma dumped, laughed and cried together, we gave each other space to ask questions and recognize we don’t always have all the answers about all things queer, even as queer people ourselves, because we know that no two queer couples look exactly alike. But we got to share our feelings and perspectives and I think everyone took away something valuable in that regard. We got to create beautiful and unique queer art, the concepts were unlike anything I’d ever seen. This was truly the highlight of my year and I will be returning to Love Loud Palm Springs in the fall, it wasn’t even a question! If I can manage it, I’ll attend every Love Loud retreat put on moving forward!

Advice for the host

Literally just keep doing what you’re doing! ♥️

If you ever have the opportunity to attend love loud, do it! Especially if you are unsure how to pose/show up for queer clients. It’s so evident Katelyn is knowledgeable and so passionate about affirming identities and she has so much to teach to everyone. This is a topic not often addressed in the industry and Katelyn is the expert.

What happened

It was fantastic. The vision, the florals, the models, EVERYTHING. I would go back tomorrow. And everyone was super fun.

This was such a wonderful experience. Everyone was so kind, considerate, and passionate about making the wedding industry a more affirming place for queer people. Katelyn is a compassionate and inspiring host who genuinely cares about the people and the experience. If you are looking to learn more about being a queer-affirming photographer or want to model for a retreat where you are fully seen and celebrated instead of tokenized or made to fit a heternomative mold, this is the place for you.

A must attend retreat if you are photographing queer love. It is not only an opportunity to add diversity and inclusion into your portfolio, but a chance to learn how to show up as a photographer for the community. Education led by queer women was so valuable, covering topics from posing, language & even opening up the space for questions and conversation. Love loud is the most welcoming, safe, creative, community based retreat you could possibly go to. From start to finish you could tell katelyn CARED. I have never experienced anything like it across my many experiences. It was so amazing to meet all the queer vendors involved in creating the shoots. It genuinely was like a girls, gays, theys & fierce allies vacation trip I never wanted to end. I will be at the next one, and the next one; and the one after that.

Advice for the host

I filled out the form post retreat and gave direct feedback :)

Shanna | Attendee | paid $1,150

Felt safe: YesRecommends for queer + BIPOC: YesWorth the price: Yes

This was an absolutely amazing experience and I highly recommend this retreat. The experience completely blew me away and matched the mood boards perfectly. The community it created was extremely supportive, welcoming, and meaningful for myself. I left with new friends and a greater understanding of how to support the LGBTQ+ community.

What happened

It was an incredibly safe space and everyone was well respected and cared for. I left with new friends!

Advice for the host

Not much other than maybe having a bit more time for each group to work with the models and less time for the flat lays. I think the flat lays could be a come and go kinda thing.

Life-Changing Experience for Wedding Photographers

I traveled from New York to Portland for the Love Loud Retreat, and it genuinely transformed how I approach wedding photography.

What Made It Special:
This wasn't just another photography workshop. Katelyn Servedio created a space for photographers to learn how to serve LGBTQ+ couples authentically and responsibly—not through surface-level gestures, but through genuine education and intentional work.
The class on inclusive photography and avoiding tokenism was eye-opening. I learned how to deconstruct heteronormative wedding traditions, ask better questions, prioritize client safety, and create truly welcoming spaces. These aren't things I learned in any other photography education—and they're absolutely essential.

The Experience:
Day one at Arcadia Beach was breathtaking. The Birth of Venus styled shoot was meticulously planned with incredible attention to detail. Working with models Ray and Shar in such a stunning location, surrounded by supportive photographers who genuinely wanted to lift each other up—it was pure magic.
There was zero competition, zero ego. Just collaboration, learning, and celebrating each other's work while documenting love that matters.

The Impact:
I left Portland not just with beautiful portfolio images, but with a completely shifted perspective on my responsibility as a wedding photographer. I now understand what it means to show up for ALL couples—especially those whose love hasn't always been centered or protected in traditional wedding spaces.

Bottom Line:
If you're a wedding photographer who wants to do better, serve authentically, and create work aligned with your values (not just your portfolio), Love Loud Retreat is worth every penny.
Thank you, Katelyn, for creating this incredible experience. And thank you to every photographer, vendor, and creative who showed up with open hearts.
This is the work that matters.

Highly recommend to any photographer ready to invest in education and genuine inclusivity.
