She let a shady male photographer come for free and he kept putting his strobes and equipment in front of everyone else so nobody else could get the shot he did lol.
What happened
The mood boards and vibes were every photographers dream. Old money, luxurious, and dreamy as can be! She originally planned for one couple station, two bridal station, and if it booked out completely she would add a “ethereal goddess vibe” session. It booked out, so the goddess shoot got added. The male in the couple had a “scheduling conflict” he decided to tell us a week the shoot was supposed to occur despite this being booked out for months and being the hosts boyfriend… ok fine whatever but was hoping for couples photos at this location, so I was pretty bummed. Finally she gets notice another model dropped out so she’s having to beg on her Instagram stories for models (thank god she somehow got the one she did because she was one of the models I enjoyed working with the most) anywho, day of the shoot we get there, she said to arrive thirty minutes before shooting time for a briefing (we stood around for 25 minutes, then she gave a quick thirty second briefing). I was under the impression that there were going to be stations with all photographers split into groups, as most styled shoots I’ve been to function that way however that wasn’t the case. She informed us each model will be taking turns with the same backdrop and we will all take photos of them in the same set up (keep in mind I think there were like 12 photographers so we were all stacked on top of each other). Then after each model has their 15 minutes of alone time at this set up it was a free for all and you could shoot whoever and however you wanted (no structure). Thank god the one bridal model ended up bringing her husband and saved the day because I was at least able to take the dreamy couples photos I had originally paid for. Now circling back to the goddess shoot? It was just a girl in a dress and didn’t match the “inspo vibes” at ALL. Also the host is a “model” however gave no thought into her look in the slightest so I didn’t even take photos of her because I didn’t pay money to take photos of someone who couldn’t even bother to brush their hair or put mascara on for a STYLED FREAKING SHOOT. She had promised so much for this shoot but I left feeling frustrated that there were so many photographers trying to get the same shot instead of splitting us in groups or having any structure, and 2/4 models were so beginner and couldn’t pose.
Advice for the host
Add structure and actual planning to your styles shoots. This was the worst one I’ve been to lol.
